Returning Info： Day4 back to the Taitung Fugang Fishing Harbor at 17:30. ( September and October will be back at 17:00)

Day 1

- Immigration Orchid Island, like we are going abroad

After arriving Orchid Island, riding on the scooter, we use the slowest speed to view this beautiful island.

- The life in Orchid Island

This time, we are not going to do what tourists usually do here, like riding around the island or sightseeing famous scenic spots. The main point of trip is to live like the residents. In the following days, we will stay in the same tribe and go to the mountains or the sea together. At the first day we arrive, we will have a deep introduction for the tribe, which can make you know more about the place that you are going to stay.

- Tonight, have dinner at "Home"

The first night, we have dinner in local people's house, which makes you feel like eating at home. We prepare dinner with elders and eat together. If lucky, elders will invite you to have a few drinks or eat a Tao's style betel nut, which means that the owner is happy for your coming.

Day 2

- One thing, one day

Back to the days without gas, people needed to set up the fire before cooking, so chopping firewood is part of their daily routine.

In the tradition, men were responsible for picking firewood from mountains and women needed to collect "avyao"(reed in Tao's language) to set up the fire. The work looks simple, but every step is the experience from life and all of these are what we are going to learn.

There is no schedule for this itinerary and we only do one thing in a day. Besides the sea, mountains are also amazing in the Orchid Island. Follow the elder to go inside the mountains and pick some bamboos for making fishing rods and some firewood back to the tribe. If tired, take a rest under the shadows and have the lunch box made by elders with the view of the sea and the whole tribe which you can overlook from the mountain. This is the daily life in the island.

- Free time for you

"Life" is the main point of this itinerary, so we don't need to do a lot of things in every single day. After working in the mountain, you will have a period of free time.

If you want to get alone with yourself and relax, you can find a pavilion and bring a book or just lie on the beach without doing anything. Or you can choose to snorkeling, scuba diving or free diving. No matter which activities you choose, remember to reserve beforehand.

At last, find a place and wait for the sunrise, which can really make your day.

Day 3

- Life starts from home

At the beginning of this day, we will go to the traditional to prepare the dinner. Use the firewood we brought back yesterday to set up the fire and steam sweet potatoes and taros, Tao people's main food. After we are back from work, sweet potatoes and taros are ready to eat.

- Life depends on the ocean

Tao people live by the ocean and they decide what kind of work to do depending on the seasons, the weathers, or the tides.

Following the elder, we use the fishing rods made by ourselves to fish for our dinner or bring screwdrivers to the intertidal zones to get something that can be ingredients for the dinner.

Tao people are used to making all works done before returning home. For example, they will wash taros clean besides the fields or remove the scales and insides from fish on the beach. After all works are done, it's time to prepare the dinner.

- 一 場 樸 實 無 華 卻 真 實 無 比 的 晚 餐

Chopping the fire wood, catching the fish, and cooking the dinner, all the steps you have participated in person. Everybody gather in the elder's house and have dinner together with stories about the house and the culture, shared by the elder.

The days living in the traditional houses were totally different from nowadays, so some of them are rebuilt, some just collapsed and others become a space for displaying the Tao culture.

The owner of the traditional house said :
" So many tourists come and leave every year. Most of them are just for fun and only a few are really interested in Tao's culture. When I see four members in your group are voluntary to set up the fire, I was really touched. They are not afraid at all while I am choked by the thick smoke. In the traditional house, we still cook in the traditional way and live like our ancestors. It's like children will always protect the old house and live with it instead of forgetting our precious culture. Thank you ! It' really means a lot to us."

Day 4

- Time goes by slowly

In Orchid Island, time goes by slowly but no matter how long you stay here, you don't think it's enough.

There is no schedule yet today. We decide where to go depending on the mood and the atmosphere. Maybe find a secret place to swim or adventure in the forest, and it is also possible to help elders to remove grasses from their fields.
