Mstbon, a silent and isolated tribe deep in the mountain of Nantou, is the cradle of Atayal. The road to the tribe is very bumpy and winding, so it's inconvenient and difficult to go home for the residents. Therefore, most of youth move to big cities to pursue better lives.
"Such a beautiful tribe, why youth barely come back home?" Because of the words by his dad, Walis, the youth in the tribe, gave up the convenient life in the city and came back to his hometown alone. He hopes other youth can be influenced by his decision and be much more willing to go back to the hometown in order not to make the tribe become a forgotten and lost place.

The Highlight
If this is the first time that you are in touch with the indigenous culture, Mstbon, the cradle of Atayal, will make you impressive.
This itinerary won't demand you to walk for a long distance or camp in the wild but to release all the pressure or worries from life.
By the stories told by Walis, you can gradually understand Atayal's culture, including handmade instrument, ballads, and some secret places. A last, you will be touched by this small tribe and have much deeper connection with the earth.

Day 1
- Arrive the tribe Mstbon
Lunch time－traditional food of Atayal's hunters
- Stories about Mstbon and the culture of Atayal
Guided by Walis, the youth of the Mstbon, we stroll in the tribe and listen to the story, like we can feel and imagine the prosperity in old times.
★The guide takes about 1 hour, please wear comfortable shoes.
- Make a traditional instrument of Atayal
This instrument is made by bamboos, and it's used for communication in the ancient time. It's not simple to make one. In the process, we need to carve and shave and please remember to stay in calm, or it may be broken easily.
★It takes at least 3 hours to make one. Please pay attention on your work and don't get hurt when using the tools.
- Dinner time
All the ingredients are from the tribe. Enjoy all the dishes!
- Atayal-style ballads sharing
Some alcohol, some music, we sing the ancient ballads of Atayal's stories.

- Picnic beside the river
Having breakfast in the secret place !
- Stories of hunting and Atayal's myth
Walis will share the hunting experiences and the myth of Atayal. Then we can find that how the hunters show their respect and stay humble when they face to the nature and many life's wisdom was passed on ancestor and

We will go up to a hill where can overlook the tribe Mstbon. So we will know why the tribe called " Castle in the sky "
- Lunch time
The last meal in Mstbon with all the ingredients from the tribe !
- Bows & arrows of Atayal
Traditional Bows and arrows were made by woods and bamboos. Learn the knowledge of them and parctice how to shoot the aim.

- For the safety, age under 8 are not acceptable for this itinerary.
When the number of travelers match the minimum requirement for this trip, we will add you in the Line group about ten days prior to the departure to send notifications. so please make sure that you fill up the right Line ID when booking.

－Search "鹿鳴山穀" on google map and do not use GPS.

【Accommodation】
- The rooms are old houses, which were left after the Japanese occupation, and they were fixed by Walis. There are no ACs in rooms, because the temperature will cool down at night.
Shampoo, body wash, and hair dryers are provided. please prepare your own toothbrush, towel, face wash, etc.
【Things to bring】
There are no convenient stores or groceries in the tribe, so you can prepare some beverages or snacks before meeting.
We only provide alcohol drinks during the ballads sharing, so if you don;t drink, please prepare some beverage by your own.
- The tribe is at an elevation of 1200 metres. There's a large day-night temperature difference, remember to bring a coat.
We will take activities in the tribe Mstbon, so if you wanna shoot the residents in the tribes, remember to receive their agreements.
In the event of adverse weather conditions, the itinerary will be adjusted.
If there is any problem during the activities, please tell the tour leader and we will try our best to solve the problems.
There will be a power or water outage seldom, please consider before booking.
If you can't arrive at designated location on time nor reach the tribe by yourself, refunds will not be granted.
